twenty two

Today is the twenty second birthday of a very dear friend of mine. Here is wishing you a very happy birthday Ridhima! The cake is actually her cake and the twenty three candles (one for goodluck) shine on.

Many people after reaching a point where there are too many candles to place, seem to think of them as age tellers. Don’t think like that. I believe that the candles are merely a way to show how long you’ve been here and what impact you’ve had on the world around you. So the next time you feel bad about the number of candles think instead of each as one year of the greatest moments you’ve lived so far. Think of all the experience, joy, pain and even mundane details of life you’ve seen in those moments.

To take this symbolic meaning even further, I believe the blowing out of candles to mark that those years are behind you and what is now is what you can make of it. What are you going to do differently this year? What new things are you going to see?
