Yesterday I went on perhaps my longest photowalk in recent times. I walked downtown to Main Street and then advanced through downtown railroad bridges. What I witnessed was a city expanding itself out to me. I had never covered this side of Ann Arbor and I was amazed by it. Murals and graffiti art covered the walls of railroad bridges. There were messages carved and painted onto walls and doors. It was like seeing a barren part long forgotten coming out.
I continued my walk down to Kerrytown after rounding up around the dam. Here I had a break at the Sweetwater’s Cafe with a pot of tea and got some writing underway. The entrance between the Sweetwater’s and Vintage home has a courtyard decorate with wall mosaics, a few benches and a simple Christmas tree. I didn’t want to capture the tree as it is but instead as by definition of the lights.
