The Michigan Union is one of the most easily recognized buildings on campus due to its importance in student activites. But many never look up to see the two statues above the entrance. They cannot be blamed either because most of the year, these are covered in either snow or vines.
The athlete stands on the left facing South Campus with its IM buildings and the Big House. The student stands on the right facing out to Central Campus and North Campus, the centres for academics. Its an interesting fact to know, and I should thank my freshman mentor for telling me about it.
The photograph above represents the ‘athlete’. I shot this today enroute to HashBash.
