heavy equipment

I was walking by Stockwell Dorm the other day and the setting sun was casting a beautiful light on this forklift. I immediately fired away three shots of the forklift at different exposures. The result when tone-mapped in photomatix was definitely a very cool one!

different face

The Nickels Arcade has two fronts – one on State Street and the other on Maynard St. The Maynard Street entrance is usually ignored due to being overshadowed by the parking structure and the general fact that most people leave the arcade through this end.

carriage house

I like the way Carriage House is built. Its reminiscent of housing colonies in India. I post-processed the HDR into black & white to get this gritty effect out of it.

alley art

I love HDR and looking at my blog posts it should be pretty apparent too. I’m experimenting with HDR a lot more now. On the walk to work, earlier this morning, I decided to capture the Alley of Art. Some HDR-processing and color correction later, this vibrant result popped out.

dark state

Both State & Michigan Theatre’s have such beautiful marquees that re-capturing them from another angle is always fun. A black & white HDR gets the more than usual darkening of the shadows and neutrals.

ritz closing

I’ve never really shopped at Ritz Camera since my buddy, the ‘Internet’ is always more than happy in finding me the cheapest deals. However, I think I will take advantage of this sale. Its a sad thing to see another company biting dust. I processed the three-shot HDR in black & white to bring out the contrasts and gradient changes. The result – a pretty gritty image. I definitely got what I wanted.

triton’s children

Walked by the Triton fountain again and I had to stop to shoot it again. I tried my hardest to reproduce the colors of the metal gleaming in the sun and they came pretty close.
